Workshop Overview
As part of Bakehouse's commitment to equipping artists with essential digital tools, we are excited to introduce a hands-on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) workshop designed to enhance your online presence. In today’s digital landscape, visibility is crucial—whether you’re looking to connect with curators, galleries, collectors, or expand your audience. This workshop will provide you with the practical knowledge and strategies to optimize your website, improve search rankings, and maximize your online reach.
Scope of the Course:
- Learn the fundamentals of SEO and how search engines rank websites.
- Optimize images, metadata, and structure for better visibility.
- Discover keyword strategies tailored for artists.
- Implement Google Search Console and Analytics to track performance.
- Enhance social media and link-building strategies to improve search rankings.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have an SEO-optimized website, an understanding of how to maintain it, and an individualized SEO action plan.
Who Can Participate?
- Artists and creatives who already have a website (Squarespace, Wix, WordPress, GitHub, etc.).
- Participants from the Build Your Website workshop who want to take their sites further.
- No prior SEO knowledge is required, but familiarity with website management is recommended.
Pre-Workshop Preparation
Before the workshop, participants will complete a short survey to assess their website’s current state and SEO goals.

- Artists they admire and would like to analyze for SEO strategy

- Session 1: Understanding SEO for Artists (45 min)
- What is SEO and why does it matter for artists?
- How Google ranks websites and how to use it to your advantage
- On-page vs. off-page SEO: The key differences
- The importance of metadata, alt text, and page structure
- Looking at successful artists’ SEO and online presence (real-world examples).
- Session 2: Website Optimization & Technical SEO (1.5 Hours)
- Creating effective page titles, descriptions, and headers
- Internal linking: How to make your website more navigable for users and search engines
- Hands-on: Auditing your current website for SEO improvements
- Why crossposting matters: Driving traffic between your website, social media, and newsletters.

- How to find the right keywords for your art and audience

- Google Trends and Google Ad Keyword search
- Hands-on: Identifying key phrases to optimize your site
- Session 4: Building Visibility Beyond Your Website (1 Hour)
- Backlinks: How to get other websites to link to you (and why it matters)
- Leveraging social media and online directories to boost SEO
- Setting up Google Search Console and Analytics to track website traffic
- Final workshop exercise: Creating a personalized SEO action plan

About Fabiola Larios
Fabiola Larios is a Mexican interdisciplinary artist based in Miami, currently in residence at Bakehouse Art Complex. Her work is focused on probing the convergence of technology, identity, and representation in the digital age. Through her work with AI, net-art, and computers, she questions our comprehension of the self and the influence of the internet, especially social media, on our existence.
In 2021, Larios received the Jóvenes Creadores grant in the category of New Technologies from Mexico’s Ministry of Culture. Select group exhibitions include Face Control at Fundación Foto Colectania (Barcelona, Spain) in 2021, Planetary Atoll: Connecting Latin-American Dots at PANKE Gallery (Berlin, Germany) and Creación en Movimiento at Centro Cultural Los Pinos (Mexico City, Mexico) in 2022, Sea Change at the Pérez Art Museum Miami (Miami, FL) in 2023, and CONTINUUM at The National Museum of Art of Guatemala (MUNAG) (Guatemala City, Guatemala) and PrincessCam Dreamland for The Windows Project partnership between the Bass Museum of Art and Bakehouse Art Complex (Miami, FL) in 2024.
